  • Road To The 2022 World Cup:

In order to obtain a spot in this year’s World Cup in Qatar, Australia was tasked with progressing out 2 group stages - followed by knockout games to determine a winner.

The first group was for the second round of World Cup Qualifiers where Australia was placed in Group B with the likes of Kuwait, Jordan, Nepal as well as Chinese Taipei. Australia was able to come top of their group by winning all 8 of their games - whilst also only conceding two goals themselves.

Upon progressing to the Third Round of the World Cup Qualifiers, Australia were placed in Group B. Ultimately, Australia finished third, falling behind Japan and Saudi Arabia. Following their progression - this ultimately led to a final game against Peru which led to a penalty shootout. Luck was on the side of the Aussies that game as they were able to clinch a spot in the world cup by winning 5-4 on penalties.

Time will tell how Australia will progress in this competition, but one thing is for certain - they will want to give everything they have for their nation and their fans.
