This weekend produced nineteen goals across nine Premier League fixtures, with movement at both the top and bottom ends of the table. Manchester City are within touching distance of the title, Liverpool climbed to second with Arsenal and Chelsea moving further adrift in race for a top four spot.

Meanwhile, three points each for Swansea, Brighton and Watford saw them move up the table to put distance between themselves and the relegation zone. Football Ticket Pad takes a look at some of the biggest talking points from this weekend’s Premier League action;

Super Son

Son Heung-min has quietly become an established, integral and hugely underrated part of their attack. The forward followed up his brace against Rochdale in the FA Cup with another two goals in a match-winning display at Wembley to take his overall tally to 14 goals this season. Spurs tightened their grip on a top four spot as they moved five points clear of fifth placed Chelsea after their 2-0 win over Huddersfield.

The South-Korean opened the scoring in the first half after rounding Jonas Lossl in the Huddersfield goal, before adding his and Spurs’ second with a well-directed header from a Harry Kane cross. Son’s two goals helped extend Tottenham’s unbeaten run to seventeen games. Watch Spurs live in action with Tottenham tickets available online.

Murray leads seagulls survival bid

It's now five goals in five games for Glenn Murray as the striker scored the winner for Brighton in their 2-1 triumph over Arsenal.

Murray is enjoying his best ever Premier League season at the age of 34 and his thirteenth goal of the season not only pilled more misery on Arsenal, but steered Brighton seven points clear of the drop zone with nine matches remaining.

Only Mo Salah (7) and Sergio Aguero (9) have scored more Premier League goals in 2018 than Glenn Murray (6) who continues to defy the odds in the top-flight of English football.

Silva lining for City

The Spaniard was integral to another Manchester City victory as the Premier League leaders moved 18 points clear at the top with a 1-0 win over Chelsea. City made the reigning champions look ordinary thanks to the speed at which they moved the ball. It was Silva who found the vital pass once again, as he turned creator for Bernardo Silva to steer home in a Man of the Match performance.

The result means that Pep Guardiola’s side only need five wins from their final nine Premier League matches to clinch the title. The Citizens also remain on course for a treble-winning season with Manchester City tickets remaining hot sellers.

Everton feeling blue

It was another weekend to forget for Sam Allardyce and his Everton side as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at Burnley. The Clarets came from a goal down at Turf Moor to win their first Premier League game in twelve attempts.

Having been unbeaten in his first seven games in charge, Everton have now lost six of the last nine in all competitions to fall six points off seventh place and potential European qualification. The Blues have won only one of their last 23 away Premier League games and need a quick response if they are to rejuvenate a dwindling season, starting with a home tie against an in-form Brighton at Goodison Park next weekend.

Karius repaying Klopp faith

Much has been made about the Liverpool No.1 jersey this season and the jury remains out on whether Loris Karius is the long-term solution at Anfield. The German stopper played an integral role in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Newcastle at the weekend, producing a stunning save to deny Mo Diame to keep his goal in tact.

For a player whose ability and future has been in question, his stats are on par with both Ederson and David De Gea in the Premier League. Karius has now kept ten clean sheets in seventeen appearances as the 24-year-old continues to silence his doubters.
