The beautiful game of football can be enjoyed by anyone from all walks of life. That is what makes it so special. For many fans, football can be an enjoyable pass time or their walk of life. Football fans new or old can play, watch and discuss everything about the game as it will always be one of the most popular sports on the planet.

If you are considering enjoying football for yourself and do not know where to start then we recommend that you choose the Premier League to start with. The Premier League (since its inception on 15 August 1992) has grown to be one of the most popular football leagues in the world today. The reason for this is due to the entertaining styles of play, the famous superstars who take to the pitch and most importantly - the heritage of the teams who compete at the top level.

So you may be wondering “Which Premier League Team Should I Support?” In this post, we will be breaking down the top teams in this exhilarating competition and giving you facts as to why you may want to support one team over another:

Manchester United:

Manchester United (commonly known as ‘The Red Devils’) are a team that is etched into top-flight history. At the time of writing, they are the most successful football teams in English football. Amassing a total of 20 top flight championships since their inception whilst also winning 3 Uefa Champions League - proving that The Red Devils are more than capable of beating the world’s best and greatest teams.

Founded in 1878, Manchester United should be one of the main prospects to choose for newer premier league supporters. Their stadium, Old Trafford provides an unforgettable football experience for fans of the game and it should not be missed by any fan - new or old.

Over the years, Manchester United fans have been able to watch some of the best players in the world play for the club, from legendary figures such as George Best to household celebrity figures like Cristiano Ronaldo and David Beckham. It is no surprise that this club has had the success it has garnered over the years with players such as these.

Should you think Manchester United are the team for you - it is a great choice and you will be able to obtain some magical moments.

Manchester City:

Manchester City is the local rival of Manchester United. Founded in 1880, this club has experienced a surge of success in recent years - gaining a total of 28 major honours since they were founded.

Manchester City, also known as ‘The Sky Blues’ has had legendary figures of their own play for the club over the years from the likes of Colin Bell, Neil Young and Francis Lee. Their most recent success has seen a whole new set of players that are sure to live long in Manchester City fans memory with players such as Sergio Aguero, David Silva, Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure.

If you are making your choice on which of the Premier League clubs are the best at this current moment, then choosing Manchester City might just be the choice you need to make. This club has provided some of the best memories for their fans, most notably in 2012 against QPR (Queens Park Rangers). This unforgettable game saw Manchester City win the Premier League for the first time in 44 years. A last-minute goal from Sergio Aguero was hailed as the greatest goal, the Premier League has ever seen. That game, along with that goal marked a turning point for this historic football club. With their continuous successes since that game - you’d be foolish to bet against this club giving you more moments like that one. And for these reasons alone - you cannot go wrong if you choose Manchester City as your new team. You can find a variety of Man City tickets through FTP.

Liverpool:

A rival to both Manchester clubs, Liverpool is our third suggestion of who to follow. At the time of writing, Liverpool are the second most successful team in English football along with gaining 6 European cups since the club history back in 1892.

Liverpudlians as the fan base is commonly known will tell you that supporting this Premier League team is like a congregation. With the ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ anthem being their pre-game walkout song, you are sure to experience a sense of togetherness that can only be equalled by a small number of other teams.

Over the years, Liverpool has lifted 42 major trophies, most recently being the Premier League in the 2019-2020 season. The legendary figures who have played for the club are plentiful, with names such as; Ian Rush, Kenny Daglish, Robbie Fowler, Michael Owen and Steven Gerrard. This club has never been one to worry about creating superstars. Which makes it easier for newer Premier League supporters to choose them as the team to support.

Chelsea:

Chelsea has found new levels of success over the past 2 decades. However, they have been a big part of the English football world for a long time. Being founded in 1905, Chelsea is one of England’s most successful clubs - having won over 30 major honours.

The stadium of Stamford Bridge has also seen its share of some of the most iconic players in top-flight history. With names such as; Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, Ashley Cole, Jimmy Floyd Hasslebaink and Petr Cech. The fans of this amazing club have not been starved of seeing some of the most amazing talents grace their pitch.

At the time of writing, Chelsea has managed to win 11 major trophies in 10 years. Should your choice of football teams to support be based on modern success - similar to Manchester City, this is a club that is enjoying its share of modern success and due to the nature of how the club is run - it’s likely this will continue for years to come.

Everton:

Situated on the opposite side Stanley Park from their local rivals, Liverpool. This club is the second-longest continuous serving club in the Premier League, garnering 9 league titles during their tenure. Along with 5 FA Cups and 9 Charity Shields. Everton is a mainstay of the Premier League division.

Everton has one of the most loyal fanbases in the English top-flight division. Commonly known as Evertonians or  ‘The Toffees’ - these supporters strive to see their club back in the conversation as one of the best teams in England. During the ’80s, Evertonians enjoyed an amazing team that garnered major successes.

To some Evertonians, supporting the club is their way of life. Following the club through thick or thin. The fanbase is truly something special to be a part of and the sense of togetherness is quite simply remarkable. Nothing makes this more prevalent than their motto of ‘The People’s Club’.

Founded in 1878, Everton was originally housed at Liverpool’s stadium Anfield before moving across Stanley Park in 1892. In recent news for the club, Everton will once again be moving their stadium. This time to Bramley Moore Dock, the stadium is set to open at the start of the 2024/2025 season.

Everton fans have experienced some unbelievable talents to play for their club over the years. With players such as; Wayne Rooney, Duncan Ferguson, Leighton Baines, Tim Cahill and most recently Romelu Lukaku.

Arsenal:

For a lot of fans of football, Arsenal is often considered to be the second team that people support. This is largely due to the captivating football they were able to produce over the late ‘90s and early 2000s. Arsenal (also known as ‘The Gunners’) are a team that is etched in English football competition history. Gaining a record-breaking number of FA Cups in their time (14).

Arsenal also made history in the 2003/2004 Premier League season by going the entire campaign unbeaten. A feat that has never been done since. To put this into context for newer fans of the game of football. A Premier League season consists of  38 games in which your team will be required to play every other team in the league twice (both home and away). Arsenal in the ‘03/04 season was able to win the Premier League trophy without losing a single game.

The fans of this amazing club have been able to experience some of the best players in the league with the likes of; Theirry Henry, Denis Bergkamp, Patrick Viera and Ian Wright. Arsenal has a history of producing world-class attacking talents.
